In order to promote the iterative upgrading of green packaging and the recycling of plastic waste, and to enhance consumers' environmental awareness and acceptance of green packaging, with the support of the China Packaging Federation, Unilever's Aumo brand and Green River, together with the upstream and downstream of the packaging industry, jointly launched the Aumo "Guarding the source of three rivers, creating a clean future" environmental action in Qinghai Province from July 15th to 19th.

Green Packaging Development

According to the "14th Five-Year" Circular Economy Development Plan issued by the National Development and Reform Commission, the development of circular economy is listed as one of the major strategies for China's economic and social development. It has become an important work of China Packaging Federation (CPF) to make packaging being a crucial part of the closed loop in circular economy and promote the development of green packaging.

Sichuan Green River Environmental Protection Promotion Association is one of the earliest and well-known environmental NGOs in China. After more than 20 years of efforts, Green River has accumulated experience in environmental protection and innovative solutions on the Tibetan Plateau which brings corresponding social influence and resources to the organization.

Meanwhile, Unilever, one of the world's largest consumer goods companies, is committed to making sustainable living the norm, with more than 2.5 billion people using Unilever products every day around the world. The household cleaning category, where the Aumo brand is located, also has a vision of "providing the most convenient service to consumers while minimizing the burden on the planet". By 2020, Aumo has achieved the goal of 100% recyclable plastic bottles, saving the planet over 3,000 tons of waste plastic each year; invested in concentrated formulas, saving Chinese customers 60 million tons of water a year; and promoted a sustainable supply chain, reducing CO2 emissions by over 4 million tons a year through the use of green fuels. As Unilever's leading household cleaning brand, Aumo is committed to sustainable development and has officially launched the "Clean Future" social initiative worldwide in 2021.

DAY 01

On July 16th, the environmental action team entered directly into the local village at Sanjiangyuan 214 National Road, Zaduo Ansai and other places, together with the green river volunteers into the packaging waste research, on the classification of plastic packaging and the impact on the local environment of scientific popularization, to promote the recycling of plastic packaging.

Han Xueshan, Vice President and Executive Secretary, said in an interview that we need to have a higher standard of top-level design and integrated planning, combining proven policies, testing, standards, certification, etc., and driving industry associations, the majority of enterprises and the public in depth.

Shen Jun, senior daily and home care industry chain R & D experts Unilever, She Xin, flexible packaging experts, and other related professionals participated into the activity.

Members of the Environmental Action Group and environmentalists focused on the history and solutions of packaging waste referring to

1. global strategies for a clean future and sustainable development of plastic packaging;

2. the material differentiation and recycling process of plastic bottles;

3. the "waste to treasure" initiative of AoM products, whether flexible packaging can be recycled;

4. how biodegradable packaging can solve the waste problem;

5. how industry associations can design at the top to achieve reduction and lightness.

DAY 02

In the afternoon of July 17th, the Environmental Action Team crossed the southern source of the Yangtze River, Dangqu, and visited local herdsmen under the leadership of the Publicity Department of Zaduo County, Yushu Prefecture, learned about packaging waste solutions in fragile ecological areas, discussed waste recycling and management in highland areas, and also brought them "Clean Future" AoMiao wash products.

DAY 03

On July 18th, the environmental action team experienced an 800-kilometer journey through areas such as the Smoky Hanging Canyon and the Tongtian River to reach the town of Tanggula Mountain, the first town on the Yangtze River in China, and arrived at the Yangtze River Water Ecological Protection Station and the Yangtze River No. 1 Post Office, located on the banks of the Tuotuo River in Green River.

DAY 04

On July 19th , the environmental action team picked up garbage along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, analyzed garbage sorting and recycling solutions, and held an inauguration ceremony of "Guarding the Source of Three Rivers, Creating a Clean Future". Green River, as a representative of public interest organizations, Unilever Aumo, as a representative of consumer goods companies, and the China Packaging Federation, as a representative of the industry, pledged to practice circular development in practice. On behalf of Aumo, Unilever's Director of Public Affairs and Communications, Wang Hui, announced that "Unilever and the Aumo brand will continue to use their influence to link upstream suppliers, and downstream customers and consumers to support the guardianship of the Three Rivers and promote the mission of a clean future. In the next three years, together with Green River, we will guard 1 million square meters of the Sanjiangyuan area and promote 100,000 tons in the coming year by linking upstream and downstream business, and 300,000 tons of plastic reuse in the next three years to accelerate the process of carbon neutrality in China!"
